Museo de Oftalmologia Doctor Saracibar / Ioba

Created from the objects donated by José María Saracíbar and other people and institutions.

Inaugurated in April, 1995.

Instruments and aparatus related to the practice of Ophthalmology.

Manuals and Treatises: the oldest is the theoretical, practical treatise on eye conditions, written in 1814 by Luis María Mexía.

Ophthalmological plates: for educational activity. Graphic representations of the defects caused by refraction.

Ophthalmoscope, Ophthalmoscope for refraction, Güllstrand's Ophthalmoscope, retinography, atlas on the eye, anatomic pieces, Güllstrand's lamp, Plácido's disc or Queratoscope, Schiötz's Tonometre, Javal Schiözt's Opthalmometer, Refractometer, Wecker's Optometer, boxes of trial lenses, panel to measure stigmatism, panel for long sightedness, Hertel's drum, scale for all types of shortsightedness, typographic scale, Livingston's aparatus, Perimetre or Campimeter, stereoscope, original drawings by Ramón and Cajal, surgical instruments.

The museum is aimed towards the public in general and especially students (from 14 years), it has published an educational guide and an activity workbook for students.
