This fascinating route around Burgos has been designed to show visitors some of the landmark sites related to the figure of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, Cid Campeador, who today remains one of the city of Burgos’ best-loved figures.

According to the Poem of the Cid, the city was his first stop on the road to exile, which began in the nearby town of Vivar del Cid, where the Cid was joined by many of the knights that rode alongside this historical figure and literary hero.

This route includes the following sites of interest: the Solar del Cid Monument, the Church of Santa Águeda or Santa Gadea, Burgos Cathedral, Santa María Arch, La Glera, the Statue of the Cid, San Pablo Bridge and the Monastery of San Pedro de Cardeña.
