To conquer the city of Béjar, which was under Muslim rule
Procession of Corpus
According to the legend, on the day of Santa Marina, a virgin who lived in disguise on the mountain of Castañar, the Christians assembled for mass in the place known as La Centena. After hearing the mass, they covered themselves with moss, and started off towards the fortress, to take the city. In the place where the Eucharist was held a hermitage was built, and since then a pilgrimage has taken place in honour of the "moss men".
