The history of this town begins following its separation from the dominions of the Count of Miranda del Castañar. The town of Mogarraz, one of the few Jewish quarters that converted to Christianity, was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and a Historical site in 1986, due to the medieval layout, with its characteristic narrow streets and regular design.

A town that is proud of its past yet looks to the present and a future based on organic farming and rural and cultural tourism.
