The baroque-style chapel of the Venerable Third Order of San Francisco sits on what was formerly a side apse of the church of the monumental convent of San Francisco el Real, founded in 1231 by disciples of the saint of Assisi and sadly disappeared during the war of the independence.

Although in a state of considerable deterioration, the remains of the main chapel and the Epistle or southern apse are preserved inside the Capuchin fathers' rooms, both with pointed windows and ribbed windows.

Some capitals of the disappeared Renaissance cloister are also preserved.
