Churches and Chapels
Church of the Asuncion
Single-nave structure of the 16th century, reformed in the 17th.
The transept has a groin vault. The wings and the central nave are covered by barrel vaults with small windows and Baroque plasterwork. There are other vaults in the tower, whose four levels are separated by groin vaults with arches.
The church is presided by a Herrera-style upper level with a niche containing the stone image of the patron saint. One of the chapels contains the image of the Virgen del Manzano (Virgin of the Apple Tree), the traditional subject of local worship. The paintings date from the 16th century: the Epiphany, the Pieta and the Calvary.
