Construction started in 1543 and finished in 1700. It has one nave, a semi-octagonal main chapel and a groin vault.

The interesting altarpiece, sample of Italian sculpture dating from the second half of the 16th century, has been attributed to the Italian artist Lucas Mitata. Of particular interest is the figure of Saint John the Baptist, the patron saint of the church and the village.
