Hermitage of San Pelayo
Hortigüela, crossing point between lands of the upper and middle Arlanza, is village in which highlights a proud hermitage on a rocky headland from which we can watch a beautiful landscape of water, river, and forest. Building to pray that lies strategically since the Iron Age, Roman times and up to the present day. It is a hermitage that accompanies the monastery of Arlanza, surrounding it with others and leaving it as protagonist.
The hermitage is formed by a rectangular nave with rectangular headboard. The passage of time has left pre-Romanesque, Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque traces. It is an architectural exhibition unique and singular. There are signs that intermingle, and can be contemplated in this building which we must observe to perceive the beautiful union of different styles in a single final result.
