A piece by Victorio Macho from 1931, of post-cubist style, simple and geometrical.

The rigidity and primitivism of its hands and head remind us of Ancient Greece or Byzantium, coming out of a body that looks like the shaft of a gigantic column. This statue of the Corazón de Jesús (Sacred Heart) is the second tallest in the world after the one in Río de Janeiro, it is 30 metres tall.

Below the statue and excavated on the hillside, there is a hermitage of ancient origin with three naves, where the sculptor of this Christ is buried; there is a small museum showing the projects of some of his work. According to legend, this is the place where, in the 6th century, Santo Toribio took refuge from his fellow-citizens, who would not admit his denouncement of Priscilian heresy, of which they were followers.
