Puerta de Olivares, Obispo or Óptima are the names by which the main gate leading to the river ’ and also the first to be built - is known. It stands next to the cathedral and is the principal and most noteworthy entrance to the walled enclosure.

It is close to Troncoso Viewpoint boasting superb views of the calm waters of the Duero River and the magnificent Roman bridge. From here, visitors can access the Bishop’s Palace and the Home of El Cid. It is adjacent to the rocky area known as Peñas de Santa Marta. A spectacular landscape and an area steeped in history that is well worth a visit.
