Walls and gates
Walls of Madrigal / Doors of Cantalapiedra - de Medina - Arevalo and Peñaranda
The first wall was built by the Arabs in the 10th century. Buttresses of bricks attached with horizontal courses were placed in the lower part and the upper part was made up of two shaft walls made of brick polished on the inside with lime and pebbles or waste material and a certain distance apart course bundles. The wall has four fortified gates named after the places they lead to: Cantalapiedra, Peñaranda, Medina and Arévalo; and there is also the Portón de Mamblás.
