According to the Poem of the Cid, Robledo Castle is the place where the offense of Corpes took place. Residents of this small town in the province of Soria regularly commemorate this historic and literary episode, which they claim took place just a few kilometres outside the town, close to the marvellous Chapel of La Virgen del Monte and the fountain, from which, legend has it, oil flowed for some time.

The Cid’s daughters, Elvira and Sol, were gravely offended by their husbands the Princes of Carrión in Corpes oakwood, in revenge for the mockery they had suffered at the hands of the Cid’s men.
