The extreme northeast of the province of Burgos, right on the border with the Basque Country, lies the kingdom of beech forests, an exceptional territory full of natural magic where the Mount Santiago Natural Monument is located.

In addition to all the environmental values, the undisputed protagonist is the impressive rocky amphitheater with vertical walls, where the Salto del Nervión rises, the spectacular horsetail-shaped waterfall close to a three-hundred-meter drop, which places it among the largest in Europe.

This landscape with a strong personality provides shelter to an important and varied fauna, highlighting the wild cat, the Iberian badger, the vulture and the booted eagle.

Before exploring the forest track that leads to the Salto del Nervión viewpoint, it is highly recommended to visit the Mount Santiago Natural Monument Park House and learn more about the values of the territory.
