Following the struggle for the throne of Castile between the future Queen Isabella I and her niece Joanna ‘La Beltraneja’, San Felices de los Gallegos became part of the dominions of the first Duke of Alba, who levied the tax known as El Noveno on the locals and residents of the neighbouring towns, whereby they were forced to hand over to the lord of the manor a ninth of their produce.
