Oriental culture is found on the transept of a Romanesque church
Cathedral of Zamora
Its famous gallonade dome, according to some of Byzantine influence, which can be seen from anywhere in the city, is one of the most original creations of Hispanic medieval art, which would influence the construction style of the Collegiate Church of Toro (Zamora) and the Old Cathedral of Salamanca. This famous dome, built with stone flakes, is one of the most dazzling constructions of Spanish and European Romanesque and has its precedent in Eastern culture. The Cathedral of Zamora is the oldest of the cathedrals of Castilla y León and one of the most avant-garde in 12th century Spain.
The syncretism of styles (Romanesque, Byzantine and Herrerian) of the Cathedral is manifested in each of its corners. Called La Perla del Duero, this Romanesque building was built in the 12th century and still has a Romanesque door of great importance, that of the Bishop, which is surprising for its sculptural ornamentation.
It was founded by Alfonso VII and consecrated in 1175, after the works lasted 25 years. The church is dedicated to the Transfiguration and houses an important cathedral museum. Its interior houses the Cristo de las Injurias, one of the best crucified in the Spanish Baroque and the Cathedral Museum has, among other pieces, one of the best collections of Flemish tapestries from the XV century of the world.
