Diocesan Cathedral Museum

The Diocesan and Cathedral Museum of Valladolid is inside the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion of Valladolid. It opened in 1965, by initiative of the then Archbishop of Valladolid, Jose Garcia Goldaraz and its funds are distributed over eleven chapels restored and arranged for this purpose, which had a funeral character within the former Collegiate church of Santa Maria.

It currently has over 450 pieces including paintings, polychrome sculpture, silversmithing and ivory. Noteworthy for its quality and for being representative of Spanish Baroque art, are the works of Ecce Homo by Gregorio Fernandez and the Monstrance by Juan de Arfe.
