Situated in the southeast of the province of Burgos, Neila Lagoons boast a stunning landscape featuring breathtaking glacial shapes and contrasting tones created by the water ecosystems and the typical Mediterranean mountain scenery.

In terms of vegetation, particularly worthy of note are the rare aquatic species that live on the shores and shallow waters of these lagoons of glacial origin, the juniper groves and pastureland, but above all the floating peat mats of Long Lagoon. As for the fauna, visitors should look out for the lagoon fish and amphibians that inhabit the marshy peat areas of these mountainous regions, as well as several small mammals and birds such as the Palaearctic otter, the Pyrenean desman, the white-throated dipper and the common kingfisher, etc.

Lying within the boundaries of the Demanda mountain range, it boasts a varied landscape that is almost entirely limited to the Ebro basin. Its isolation from the other valleys means that it has its own unique landscapes, making this a truly outstanding location.
