de las Carmelitas Descalzas (Discalced Carmelites) was founded in 1571 by the Madre Teresa de Jesús, who died here on October 4th, 1582. she was buried in the choir under the church.

Next to the convent front there is an ornate Mannerist section with a bass-relief representing the Annunciation. Inside, the cell of Santa Teresa and the original sepulchre, covered by a black marble tombstone. The main altarpiece, dating from the 17th century, has a marble urn containing the uncorrupted body of Santa Teresa.
