The parish church of Santiago Apóstol is located in the urban area of ¿¿Turégano, in an irregular square of the same name next to the Plaza Mayor. Of Romanesque origin, its construction has been subject to numerous transformations, so its current image presents a mix of different periods and construction styles. After the restoration carried out in 2002 of the Romanesque apse and the Baroque altarpiece, a monumental Romanesque sculptural group from the beginning of the 13th century with its original polychrome was recovered. It is a Romanesque stone altarpiece made up of a pair of historic reliefs, which between knurled columns flanked the central window of the apse, which remained hidden behind the baroque altarpiece. Included in the declaration as integral parts are the set of movable property that houses the church, among which the main altarpiece stands out, a baroque work in gilded wood completed in 1776 by the carver, Francisco Rodríguez and the steller, Lorenzo Villa, as well as the set of altarpieces that adorn the naves of the church and the Romanesque baptismal font.
