The Sierra de Gredos, in the extreme south of Castile and León, acts as a natural border between the two great central plateaus of the Iberian Peninsula, a large mass of granite in which the emblematic Pico Almanzor stands out with its 2,592 meters of maximum elevation.

Thanks to its geographical location and its unique morphology, it is the kingdom of animal and plant diversity in which botanical endemisms survive, the ibex, the Almanzor salamander and the Avila snow vole.

The Circo de Gredos is another of the landmarks of the Sierra de Gredos Regional Park, which is accessed by a track dotted with waterfalls and corners of extreme beauty until reaching more than two thousand meters of altitude. There, in the middle of an ancient glacier, an unparalleled natural spectacle opens up. The large glacial lagoon with cold, transparent waters makes its way through lichen meadows like a mirror in which the great mountains that frame it are reflected.

Along with so many natural treasures, the Sierra de Gredos preserves an important cultural heritage in which the Roman road of Puerto del Pico or beautiful towns such as Candeleda, among others, stand out.

In Hoyos del Espino, another of those reference towns both for being the starting point to the Gredos platform or for being the place where an internationally renowned musical event takes place every summer such as the Musicians in Nature festival, The Pinos Cisneros Park House is located. Inside, detailed information is provided on all aspects of interest in the Park, as well as expert guidance to plan routes and audiovisuals with which to expand knowledge of the territory.

A set of interactive modules invites you to participate and thus obtain more useful information, such as a system that allows you to predict rain on the different slopes of the mountain range or tubes, through which you can listen to the stories of other hikers such as part of the experience.

At the top of the building there is a camera installed that provides a 360º view of the territory in real time, allowing us to get closer to any detail of interest.

Another audiovisual shows the geological history of the Sierra de Gredos, the causes that led to its formation until it configured the current landscape. An interesting model of the natural space helps to locate each milestone and to have a global vision of this emblematic Protected Natural Space.
