On the banks of the Burejo River, shortly before its waters flow into the Pisuerga in the Palencia town of Herrera de Pisuerga, a riverine ecosystem extends in which the native or white-legged crab resists the danger of extinction that threatens it.

This small crustacean represents a fundamental species in environmental balance and is gradually gaining ground on other invasive species, but in this battle to reestablish the natural order it is not alone. It is accompanied by otters, wagtails, newts, trout and vermilions, which demonstrates the good quality of the waters and conservation policies.

In this relaxing place, where the murmur of water fills the atmosphere, a modern, bright and energy-efficient building stands to house the River Crab House.

The walkway that spans the Burejo River channel facilitates access to the multidisciplinary center. Once you have visited the reception and the store where you have your first contact with this river world.

On the first floor, on a small scale and with absolute realism, this riverine course is explained in its upper, middle and lower sections of the river, both in terms of flora and fauna.

The panels and colorful audiovisuals provide valuable information to understand this ecosystem, while at the bottom of a magnificent aquarium native crabs roam in search of food.

In the lower part of the building, at the level of the riverbed, the River Classroom opens, a space for the enjoyment of visitors with educational activities to learn about the life of the riverbank and the different ecosystems that enrich it, in addition to enjoy the art of sustainable fishing.
