Discover the landscape of the protected area of ​​the Azibo lagoon in the center of Northeast Trasmontano.

Located in the municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros, the reservoir was built in the early eighties. The large water storage capacity allowed the creation of an ecosystem conducive to the existence of numerous species of migratory birds that attract the visit of many ornithologists and nature lovers throughout the year. This important Protected Area was integrated into the Natura 2000 network.

In Albufera de Azibo you can practice water sports such as swimming, rowing and canoeing and enjoy the two river beaches near the village of Santa Combinha, Fraga da Pegada and Ribeira beach, with a floating pool. In the Protected Area there are also trails for hiking and cycling.
