On a plateau hill, which formed a perfect defensive location, you can see the settlement of one of the most important fortified cities of the Vellicos community, part of the people of the Cantabrian Celtic culture. The Monte Bernorio site has an impressive defensive system, with very complex fortifications. Several areas of ritual use and necropolis have also been located.

Located in Pomar de Valdivia (Palencia), it is one of the most extensive Iron Age sites in the entire Iberian Peninsula and Europe. The first occupation of which there are remains dates from the Chalcolithic (between 3000-2000 BC). The occupation of the nucleus of Monte Bernorio would extend continuously from the 9th / 8th century BC. until the 1st century BC, the time of the Roman conquest. The culture of these peoples was peasant and warrior type, with a highly specialized economy of agriculture and livestock adapted to the mountain territory they occupied.
