La Alberca lies in the south of the province of Salamanca, and is one of the most spectacular mountain towns in the area, overshadowed by the silhouette of Francia Crag (site of the Chapel of La Virgen Negra), and the Sierra de Gata mountain range. This town boasts a fascinating mix of Jewish and Moorish mountain architecture, as well as a breathtaking natural setting.

The famous looms of Alberca remind us of the town’s past as a prosperous centre for livestock farming, agriculture and textiles. It is still renowned for its production of pork products, specifically from the Iberian breed of pig, an essential ingredient in the area’s gastronomy.
