An insight into the men who dedicated their lives to mining
Museum of the Metallurgy and Mining in Castile and Leon
Situated in Sabero Valley, a prime natural location, the Castilla y León Museum of Metallurgy and Mining (MSM) is dedicated to all those individuals that contributed to the creation of Spain’s first metallurgical industry in the mid 19th century.
It is a mining research and educational centre created to study and promote knowledge of Castilla y León’s mining and metallurgical heritage, as well as acknowledging the work of the companies, workers and civil society that formed part of this sector.
Buildings
It is housed in the former San Blas ironworks, set up as a large foundry that was forced to close in 1866.
