The temple was built in the XII century with Templar origins. Its elevation of the village that surrounds it highlights and hence the name ‘de la Cuesta’. It is a representative work of the Mudejar Romanesque of the village, with important Baroque reforms, built in ashlar stone, masonry and brick.
