The current building, halfway between Gothic and Herrera styles, is from the XVI century. In 1885 it loses its status of parish to recover it just one hundred years later. In that lay century a hospital specialized in cholera patients settled in the church. In the altarpiece some extraordinary carvings by Francisco Rincon can be seen. Furthermore, within the walls of the temple lie the bodies of some military of Medina del Campo prominent in New Spain: Francisco Bracamonte, Melchor de Torralba and Juan Gutierrez.
