The Museum of the Flour Industry of Castilla y Leon (MIHACALE) was inaugurated on 9 August 2014. It is housed in several buildings in the town of Gordoncillo in the province of Leon, particularly in an industrial complex of over 3,100 square meters which are partially occupied by several buildings which have now been recovered for cultural purposes.

It is accessible by the LE-546 (Valderas-Mayorga) road. Its entrance is in the granary or wheat and flour warehouse, a large building of mud, adobe and wood built in 1937 and perfectly preserved. It has two levels, where in its large spaces, today are held temporary exhibitions of art; it also has a large auditorium with stage and dressing rooms prepared for all types of performances and events.

There is a large covered area in the courtyard where dozens of machines from flour mills from different provinces of Castilla y Leon are displayed. They are perfectly restored and preserved. We aim to gradually provide these machines of movement so that visitors can better understand its operation. In fact, a miller laboratory already works, where demonstrations of grinding and sifting are held to groups.

And finally the Flour Mill "Marina Luz", rebuilt in 1944 after a fire destroyed the previous industrial building. Its flour mill machinery is electrically driven. It occupies three floors, completely open to visits. Along the route you can know the operation of the factory and various aspects of its history, as well as references to its owners and workers. The educational panels also explain the types of machinery, changes in milling techniques and developments in the flour industry in the XIX and XX centuries in Spain.

The Museum of the flour industry of Castilla y Leon (MIHACALE) has as purposes, besides self-preservation and exhibition of the buildings and machines described above, the safeguarding of the documentary and bibliographical heritage related to the milling, in addition to promote research and study of the flour industrialization.
