Garoza's Stones
"Ibarrola in Garoza" is an art and nature project conceived and developed by the Basque painter and sculptor Agustín Ibarrola (Basauri, 1930). The artist’s work adopts an integral approach to the grassland landscape, creating an intimate and profound dialogue between his avant-garde pictorial language and the granitic stone, the holm oak trees, as well as the light and history of this site.
The result is a surprising series of works, comprising 115 large stones portraying various messages, adapted for visitors thanks to a number of paths and various interpretation aids (maps and audio guides).
The project also includes an information centre, several rest areas where visitors can admire the magnificent natural surroundings, as well as an exhibition room featuring a number of Iberrola’s paintings and sculptures, situated in the historic quarter of Muñogalindo.
