Barruecopardo was the largest tungsten mine in Spain, and had more than a thousand miners. Its mineral of very high quality caused the town to be nicknamed "California girl". The Mineralogy Museum opened in 2012 with a clear historical and educational vocation, so that visitors can learn about the history and experiences of mining operations in the area through its rooms.
