Built in the lower course of the Tormes river, its dam is located to 5 kilometers from Almendra a town of Salamanca and 7 from the village of Cibanal in Zamora. It is the highest dam and one of the largest reservoirs in Spain.

From the wall of the dam, of 3.5 km and a height of 197 meters, you can see landscapes which reminiscent of the sea and surprise the visitors.
