On the occasion of the 13th commemoration of San Fructuoso in 1966, the beginnings of this type of industry are associated with the origins of the monastery of Compludo, founded by the saint in the 7th century. The most recent studies have shown that the Ironworks were founded in the 19th century, thus proving earlier theories wrong.

Its originality is highlighted in the ingenious yet rudimentary system of water use in the foundry. Erected in masonry channelling the water current parallel to the area activity is carried out. The force of the water makes a current of water stole up the forge fire thanks to the Venturi effect.
