The convent was founded in 1661 by Don Gaspar de Bracamonte y Guzmán, Count of Peñaranda and Viceroy of Naples, the works began in 1667. The church and the convent are characterized by simplicity, the prevailing norm in Carmelite architecture. The main chapel is adorned with a beautiful altarpiece very similar to that of the Carmelites of Alba de Tormes, presided over by the Virgin of the Assumption by Lucas Jordán. Inside the convent, paintings and works of great value are kept, many of them sent from Italy by their founder. The geometric volumes stand out on the outside of the building and massive use has been made of the brick, reserving the seating for the living and front parts.
