Madrid, 1933. Tristán Valdivia, a journalist without a newspaper, an unsuccessful editor, and an unfulfilled lover, leaves the capital to return to the north. There, his father, the Marquis of Montecorvo, awaits him. These are difficult times for the country, immersed in the upheavals of the Second Republic, and the old aristocrat must remain at the head of his private fiefdom: the Northwest Mining Company.

From the darkness of the mining valleys of Asturias, luminous characters emerge, and beneath the thunderous noise of the coal mines, the whisper of an ancient song can be heard. Old and new times collide brutally, testing the protagonist, and soon all of humanity. This is the sound of The Ballad of the North.
