An unlikely farce about a hat, it tells the story of a troupe of local comedians who come to town to perform.

Almost all of its members are arrested by the courts, and their belongings are seized for asking for money without permission. Those who remain decide to rehearse the play to prevent the performance from being canceled and thus be able to rescue their actors. They have nothing: an old wagon, threadbare clothes, sticks, and a hat to tide them over.

In full view of everyone, they run through their comedic repertoire as best they can. The show must go on, as the very essence of theater dictates.
