Zamora Museum.- The exhibition "Pennetier. Presences" proposes an intimate journey through the pictorial work of Fernando Pennetier (Zamora, 1931 – Madrid, 2022), an approach articulated around the term "presence" that becomes a fundamental interpretive key to a long artistic career.

After a childhood of unforgettable memories in Zamora, interrupted by the family move and their permanent establishment in Madrid, the coincidence at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts with the most important generation of Zamora artists (Tomás Crespo, Antonio Pedrero, Alberto de la Torre, etc.) will strengthen friendships and renew a relationship marked by constant visits and Pennetier's permanent presence in the cultural life of the city.

In the early 1960s, he experimented with an expressionist abstraction, which he soon abandoned in favor of figuration. From then on, Pennetier offered a version of realism that, always based on his studio and without natural models, became a pure intellectual exercise. In fact, the essential images the painter offers constantly resort to indeterminate spaces, meditative or purely reflective environments, almost abstract, seemingly taken from a dream, from his own thoughts.

Still lifes, landscapes, and nudes, mostly female, are the basic themes that always focused Pennetier's interest. A good representation of them makes up the exhibition, with early backgrounds for each theme and examples of their progressive simplification and tireless combination. These images often convey melancholy and loneliness, an existence filled with the fatalism that always defined the artist's character.
