On Tuesday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m., José Ignacio García will give a lecture on contemporary narrative in Castilla y León.
Writer, editor, literary critic, anthologist, and cultural manager, José Ignacio García (San Sebastián, 1965) is the author of the short story collections It Costs Me So Much to Say I Love You, Unsatisfied Lives, Between the Future and Nothingness ( Miguel Delibes Prize for Narrative, 2009), The Castaway's Smile, The Secret of Her Name (translated into English), The Story I'd Like to Write with You, Some Stories Aren't Good for Writing Love Songs, and The Memory of Chrysanthemums. He is also the author of the novel My Life, in Your Name. His short works have won national and international literary competitions and appear in magazines and collective books. Founder of the cultural project We Count Christmas (La armonía de las Letras cultural recognition award, 2015), he has coordinated its fourteen editions; as well as several collective anthologies, including Valladolid on Wheels and Cuentos Pendientes, 43 Voices of the 20th Century Castilian and Leonese Short Story, already considered in some universities as a subject of study on the current Castilian and Leonese short story. As a cultural promoter, he is the coordinator of the International Short Story Competition Cuéntame Portillo, José Luis Salvador Memorial, and organizes the Valladolid book fairs of Medina del Campo and Portillo.
As a literary critic, García is a frequent lecturer and contributor to esRadio, ABC, and La Nueva Crónica de Leon. A selection of his best reviews, published in both newspapers, was published in 2023 in the book Twenty-six Tin Soldiers.
