Foster care is a child protection measure implemented by the Social Services Department of the Junta de Castilla y León. It aims to enable children and adolescents between the ages of 0 and 17, who for various reasons cannot be cared for by their families of origin and are under the guardianship of the Child Protection System, to exercise their right to grow up in a stable, safe, and protective family environment for a specified period of time. This is a resource implemented by the Social Services Department of Castilla y León, implemented in each province through the Child Protection Sections, which report to the Regional Governments. The Spanish Red Cross in Castilla y León participates in the program as a collaborating entity through the Foster Families Project.

There are two types of foster care:

• Foster Care Service. Allows children between 0 and 17 years of age to grow up with a family temporarily, full-time or part-time.
• Temporary Stay Service . This service addresses the needs of children ages 6 and up, offering them a family-friendly alternative during vacation or school periods.

The Spanish Red Cross, in collaboration with the Junta de Castilla y León, is responsible for raising awareness, disseminating information, informing families, assessing them, and providing professional support and guidance to ensure the care, attention, and coverage of all the needs of children and adolescents during their time with their foster family.

The installation "Will You Make Room for Me in Your Life?" aims to raise awareness of these services, to raise awareness about the situation of minors deprived of the opportunity to grow up in a family, and to spread the culture of foster care in Valladolid.
