On November 6th , at 7:00 PM, in the Auditorium of the Palencia Public Library , José Ignacio García, writer, editor, literary critic, anthologist, and cultural manager, will give his lecture "Esenciales" (Essentials). A study of those essential writers, in their prime, who, far from remaining in no man's land, inhabit the land of all self-respecting readers, and whose words exude the pure essence of quality literature, regardless of whether they have been recognized with prestigious awards or whether their work enjoys the favor of major publishing houses.

These are essential and indispensable authors, in some cases due to their long and recognized career, in others because of what their vast background contributes to the ethnography and culture of their land, some more because they have made the story (or the short story) their impregnable bastion and there are even some for whom the quality of a publication has served to place them in the novelistic Olympus, removing them for a few moments from their poetic prestige.

For the third consecutive year, and commissioned by the Castilian-Leonese Institute of Language, José Ignacio García, one of the foremost specialists in novels and short stories currently being written in our region, returns with his panoramic and expectant vision to survey the territories of short- and long-distance regional narrative. Following his two previous experiences (The Call of the Books and The Future is Written), where he examined the works that had chosen him as a reader and the new values of our prose literature.
