On Wednesday, November 26th at 7:00 p.m. , in the Auditorium of the Public Library of Palencia , a literary meeting with Ana María Shua will take place.

Ana María ShuaThis link will open in a pop-up window. was born in Buenos Aires in 1951. At sixteen, she published her first poems, collected in *El sol y yo* (The Sun and I). In 1980, her novel *Soy Paciente* (I Am Patient) won the Losada publishing house prize. Other novels include *Los amores de Laurita* (Laurita's Loves), which was adapted into a film, *El libro de los recuerdos* (The Book of Memories ) (Guggenheim Fellowship), and *La muerte como efecto secundarios* (Death as a Side Effect ) (Club de los XIII Prize and City of Buenos Aires Prize for Fiction). Her latest novel is *Hija * (Daughter).

Six of her books explore the micro-story, a genre in which she has achieved the highest international acclaim: *La sueñera*, *Casa de Geishas*, *Botánica del Caos*, *Temporada de Fantasmas* (collected in the volume *Cazadores de Letras*), and *Fenómenos de circo *. *Todos los universos posibles* brings together her work up to that point. In 2019, *La guerra en Madrid y en Buenos Aires* was published.

She has also written several books of short stories. Her book *Miedo en el sur* (Fear in the South) won the City of Buenos Aires Prize. *Que tengas una vida interesante* (May You Have an Interesting Life) compiles her complete short stories up to 2011. *Contra el tiempo* (Against Time) was published in Madrid with a prologue, selection, and interview by Samanta Schweblin. Her latest book in the genre , *Sirena de río * (River Mermaid), was published in 2022.
