Contemporary poetry in Castilla y León. "The lyre of the muses"

The Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language organizes the literary meeting "The lyre of the muses", coordinated and presented by the poet from Soria, Fermín Herrero.

This proposal is part of the Institute's initiatives to highlight and strengthen the contemporary literary production of our Community.
Castilla y León has historically been a land of poets. From the Generation of '98 to the present day, poetry has been the privileged vehicle for expressing landscape, memory, time, and emotion.

Authors such as Jorge Guillén, José Jiménez Lozano, Antonio Gamoneda, and Luis Mateo Díez have elevated the poetic word to an instrument of depth and truth. Today, this tradition is renewed by prominent voices such as Juan Antonio González Iglesias, María Ángeles Pérez López, Tomás Sánchez Santiago, and Fermín Herrero himself, who received the Critics' Prize for his work "Sin ir más lejos" (Without Going Any Further).

"The lyre of the muses" was created with the purpose of bringing this poetic vitality closer to the whole territory, disseminating its keys, enjoying its verses and vindicating poetry as a necessary language, also in our time.
