Egeria and Gaucelmo are "time librarians" and work for an ancient institution founded in Alexandria after the fire that destroyed its famous library. They are able to travel to any era to rescue the stories contained within books. To travel through time, they have a vehicle that is half library, half time machine: the Time-Cart Library.
