西曼卡斯坐落在Pisuerga河右岸的山顶上，周围土地肥沃，具有松树地地区特有的沙质土壤。
这里曾被瓦卡人、罗马人、西哥特人、阿拉伯人和基督徒占领，在被Almanzor为平地之后，阿方索六世于 11 世纪重新在此定居。
主广场位于市中心。一侧是重建的旧市政厅，其门廊由壁柱和半圆形拱门支撑。旁边是圣萨尔瓦多教堂，教堂仍保留着原罗马式神庙的塔楼。教堂入口顶部是半圆形拱门。
游客可以漫步在保存完好的中世纪街道上，街道两旁排列着可追溯至 16 世纪和 17 世纪的豪宅。其他值得注意的建筑包括前医院和雄伟的城堡。这是一个值得一游的历史遗址。
