Although the pilgrims do not go through the centre of the town, their route does include this municipality, whose name provides them with a clue as to what they can expect to find here. The term ‘Casa’ (house) comes from the Latin and refers to a dwelling, whilst ‘Seca’ (dry) comes from the Latin ‘siccus’ in reference to the lack of water and humidity, and finally, ‘Campeán’ comes from the Latin term ‘campus’ meaning field and refers to the vast plains that stretch out beyond the inhabited area.
This town is also the site of the Church of San Isidoro de Sevilla.
