Sluice number 39 is situated along the section of the motorway from Cubillas de Santa María, Trigueros and Valoria la Buena.
Next to this sluice, the lock-keepers hut still stands and the Canal makes its way towards Cigales, a village in the province of Valladolid which has received Denominación de Origen for its claret and is gradually gaining ground with its red wine. A visit to the Iglesia Parroquial de Santa María in the village is recommended.
