Plot of Free Verse :

Madrid, late 1970s. Gloria, committed and vibrant, married and mother of six, falls in love with a woman. Despite the obstacles she encounters, Gloria decides to live this love story to its fullest extent, with passion and courage, but also with sacrifices and disappointments. Emilia, her eldest daughter, will be the only one who remains by her side, while Alejandra, a trans woman raised by her father, will search for her mother and sister for years without success.

Starring Marta Alonso, Teresa Alonso, and Celina Fernández, who together portray more than twenty characters, "Free Verse" invites us to discover the story of a unique family, as well as the evolution of LGBTQ+ rights in Spain over the last 50 years. It is a play that heals wounds, a balm against homophobia, and a breath of fresh air that erases—with humor and tenderness—decades of guilt, mistreatment, and stigma. It makes us reflect on the price we pay for defending our freedom and the harm we inflict on those around us when fighting for our ideals. Furthermore, it invites us to consider whether we are repeating the same mistakes with our children that our parents made with us.
