Our talk will aim to bring us closer to the 17th and 18th centuries through the works of female painters and sculptors, such as Luisa Roldán , Mariana de la Cueva , Ana Mª Mengs or Luisa de Morales among others.
It is important to bring women artists to light, as art history silenced them for many years because it was considered normal for architecture, sculpture, and painting to be exclusively the domain of men. But today we know that they existed and were great masters of art; they were simply omitted, forgotten, and unknown to the public until recent times.
Mª Alicia Santiago Tamame has a degree in Art History, is a Professor of Social Sciences in Secondary Education and a Professor of the Master's Degree in Secondary School Teacher Training at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
