Heartbeats is a play by Miguel Mota that won the 2017 Fray Luis de León Theatre Prize. The jury said of the play: A play that captures, in its exact point of literature and theatricality, heartbeats of life, of desire, of difficulty, of forbidden worlds, of complex family relationships between parents and children, of the meaning of life and death and, above all, of the old truths of the heart: love and piety.

SYNOPSIS In a small town, a man visits a park to escape his routine life. There, he meets a boy, with whom he gradually begins to develop a friendship. They talk about their lives, their fears, the stars, destiny, and God, forging a bond that transcends the park and their own lives. But there's something he doesn't yet know.
