The exhibition "Casiano Alguacil (1832-1914). A photographer to discover", organized by the Provincial Historical Archive of Soria together with the Center for Studies of Castilla-La Mancha, will be open throughout February, although it was initially planned to run only until the 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Curated by Beatriz Sánchez Torija and María López Morales, the exhibition offers a journey through the work of Casiano Alguacil via 50 images of Castile-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Andalusia, and Madrid. Casiano, a pioneer of Spanish photography, played a key role in the visual documentation of 19th-century historical and monumental heritage. The exhibition also includes a selection of approximately 50 postcards of Soria and its province, dated between 1903 and 1914, chosen by María López Morales, photographer at the Provincial Historical Archive of Soria. These postcards offer a glimpse into what the city looked like at the dawn of the 20th century.

The exhibition opened on November 6 as a parallel activity of the 1st Photography Conference, organized by the National Center of Photography in collaboration with the Center of Studies of Castilla-La Mancha, and framed within the 11th Meeting of History of Photography, which for the first time has taken place in the city of Soria.

These conferences and the exhibition represent a unique opportunity to explore the photographic legacy of our country and to reclaim the image as a vehicle for memory, identity and dialogue.
