The Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language and the Zamora City Council are organizing a session of the literary event "The Lyre of the Muses: Contemporary Poetry of Castilla y León" at the Zamora Public Library on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:00 p.m. This newly created series, developed by the Institute, will be coordinated and presented by the poet Fermín Herrero from Soria. With this new initiative, Herrero aims to present the general trends and names of a broad and fruitful poetic landscape of authors who coexist in a time marked by the absence of dominant movements and characterized by a multitude of diverse and original voices that deserve attention.

Herrero, aware of the quality and significant number of writers, will emphasize in his presentation that no other region boasts such an impressive list of authors whose creative work has earned them the Cervantes Prize; this includes Jorge Guillén, Gonzalo Torrente Ballester, María Zambrano, Francisco Umbral, Miguel Delibes , and José Jiménez Lozano. In this extensive exploration of the region, authors from Castilla y León will be given special attention.

A graduate in Hispanic Philology from the University of Zaragoza, Fermín Herrero is the recipient of the 2014 Castilla y León Literature Prize awarded for his poetic career and the Castilla y León Critics' Prize for his poetry collection La agradecer .
